FCVFD - Our Officers

Patrick J. Evinger, Trustee


A Falls Church area native, Patrick Evinger is a 3rd generation volunteer firefighter with the Falls Church VFD. His grandfather, Hank Marr, was an officer and life member of the FCVFD. His father, Bob Evinger, is a life member of the FCVFD. His mother, Nancy Evinger, is a life member of the Auxiliary to the FCVFD.

Patrick officially joined the Department in March 1989, however he has been chasing fire trucks his entire life. Within the Falls Church VFD, Chief Evinger has served as President, Secretary, Trustee, Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Aide to the Chief, Captain, and Sergeant.

Patrick has completed certification as an Officer 2, Instructor 2, Driver/Operator for Pumpers, and Emergency Medical Technician.

On September 11, 2001, as Chief of the FCVFD, Patrick organized the initial response by fire department volunteers to the terrorist attack on the Pentagon.

During his tenure with the FCVFD, Patrick has received numerous awards for his activities, including:
  • Sons of the American Revolution Fire Safety Commendation Award
  • Arlington County Outstanding Volunteer Award
  • Arlington County Fire & Rescue Association Officer of the Year
  • Arlington County Fire & Rescue Association Instructor of the Year

    When he is not engaged in fire department activities, Patrick works in Risk Control for an insurance agency, Early, Cassidy & Schilling, in Rockville, Maryland. He holds the certification of Construction Health and Safety Technician, authorized OSHA Construction Industry Outreach Trainer, as well as numerous other instructor qualifications in the area of construction and industrial safety.
