John joined the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department during the summer of 2008. In his short time as a member of the department, John has earned Level II Firefighter, HazMat Operations, Emergency Vehicle Operator Course II and Emergency Medical Technician – Basic certifications.

In addition to staffing the Engine, Ladder Truck, or Ambulance, John has enjoyed his time in the department as an active participant on the Fitness, Fire Prevention and Membership Committees. One of John’s favorite activities is the annual Santamobile event and he really enjoyed the opportunity to co-plan the event in 2009.

Originally from Kentucky, John spent most of his life in Northern and Southern California before relocating to the DC Metro area in 1998 to attend graduate school. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of California – San Diego and a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University.

Outside of the fire service, John works as a technology executive for Choice Hotels International where he manages the IT Strategy, Enterprise Architecture, Program Management Office and IT Governance functions. He has lived in the City of Falls Church with his wife, Jeanine, since 2005.
